There are many cheap ingredients that you should avoid in a hand soap. Unfortunately, many brands today still use a combination of these ingredients in their products due to the lower manufacturing costs. The most commonly-used avoidable ingredients are dyes and synthetic fragrances (called "Fragrance" on ingredient lists). Our base formula, the Fragrance-Free hand soap, does not have any added scent. Our Lavender and Eucalyptus soaps are scented using essential oils – natural fragrances – only, and smell quite nice! We recommend avoiding any products that have "Fragrance" in the ingredient list since this is an unregulated term that could contain harmful byproducts.

Our hand soaps are smooth and refreshing! We use naturally-occurring humectants and emollients to retain moisture on your skin and prevent the drying effect that other products may have. Notably, our hand soaps do not contain any harmful foaming agents (such as SLS), so you can rest assured that the suds produced by using our soap are actually cleaning your hands.

Hand soaps generally don't have a hard expiration date like a gallon of milk does. This is because, assuming the soap bottle remains unopened, the individual ingredients in a hand soap do not "go bad", especially when paired with a preservative (don't worry, FreeMind doesn't use any of the bad preservatives). However, it is possible that the essential oils used for scent in our products become less potent over time.

Nearly all water-based products, such as our hand soaps, need preservatives to protect against bacterial and microbial growth. This is because water is the main source of proliferation of many microbes.

Yes; however, this doesn't impact the efficacy of the product. Although we use Sorbitan Oleate Decylglucoside Crosspolymer (a natural ingredient) as an emulsifier in our hand soaps, a liquid left still over a prolonged period of time can show signs of separation between water and oils. If this happens, just give the bottle a good shake and you are good to go!
